[ Choose Borders ]

How should I choose the appropriate border for my patch?

Merrow: A Merrow border is a traditional, overlocked protective edge stitched around a patch using a specialized machine to prevent fraying and give it a classic, raised, and high-quality finish.
Laser-cut edges: This refers to the process where the edges of the patch are cut using a laser, resulting in a clean, smooth, and precise cut. The laser does not burn the fabric, so the edges retain the original color and texture of the material.
Heat-cut edges:
This occurs when the laser not only cuts but also burns the edges of the patch, causing them to melt slightly. The heat from the laser creates a darker, sometimes slightly charred, appearance around the edges. This effect can give the patch a more rugged or vintage look.

[ Hook VS Loop Backing ]

How do you tell the difference between the hook and loop sides of Velcro?

Distinguishing between the hook and loop backing the easiest way is using the "scratch and fuzz" :
Hook side (Rough): Hard, rough, and prickly. Upon careful inspection, it was covered by hundreds of tiny hard plastic hooks.
Loop side (Soft): Soft, pliable, blurry. Upon careful inspection, it was found to be composed of a dense cushion made up of small, soft fabric loops.

[ Choose Backing ]

Can I choose the patch backing material that I want?

Yes, you can choose any type of interfacing you need. Backing options include iron-on, Velcro, plastic, and more.

Sew-on: The traditional and most secure method. Stitched directly onto the garment for a permanent hold.
Iron-on: Features a heat-activated adhesive backing that melts into the fabric fibers when pressed with a hot iron.
3M Self-Adhesive: Works exactly like a sticker. Simply peel off the paper backing and stick it directly onto a surface.
Velcro (Hook & Loop): Features a two-part system. The rough "hook" side is pre-sewn to the patch, while the matching soft "loop" piece is sewn onto your gear for easy attachment and removal.
Safety Pin: A classic pin is built into the backing, allowing you to instantly pin it onto any fabric and move it whenever you like.
Plastic (Reinforcement Only): Not an attachment method, but a backing upgrade. A thin layer of plastic is heat-sealed to the patch to add stiffness and structure.
